The artwork produced for Frozen in the Sublime, my final graduation installation (Illingworth Kerr Gallery - Alberta University of the Arts), was blown into a triangular prism mold. The blown glass was reheated, gravity was allowed to “have its way” with the piece, and then it was brought back under control and finished. The annealed work was cut and polished at various angles. The pieces are displayed in groups upon triangular plinths that invite the viewer to enter a space filled with light, reminiscent of light upon a frozen sea.
